On October 30th, 2003 as Summer was teaching yoga she suffered from several Grand Mal seizures. After she awoke in the hospital she learned she had a brain tumor in her left frontal lobe that needed immediate surgery. The tumor was a little larger than an orange and was beginning to impeed on her eloquent brain and her motor cortex. Summer was shocked, she had no signs, no symptoms and felt as if she had just woken up to someone else's life. She responded as expeditiously as possible given the situation and moved forward with a craniotomy to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Her surgeons successfully removed 80% of her tumor and Summer underwent radiation and chemotherapy for the remaining 20%. Summer is also undergoing complementary treatment which includes Acupuncture, ChiGong, Chiropractic, Healing Touch, Guided Imagery and Massage. Summer is also adhering to a strict raw food diet based on the Hippocrates diet by Anne Wigmore and Brian Clement.
